I have been writing songs
and performing from the age of 14 when I was given my first guitar and two
months later I performed my first solo gig in Ainsworth near Bury in Lancashire.
I was lucky enough to be managed by Brian Freshwater (Joss Stone, Derek Bramble,
Connor Reeves, Lynx, David Grant, Leeson and Vale, Foy Vance) for quite a few
years and released my first single HOPE IN AMERICA © which achieved number one
status on almost all the UK local stations. After a period with Chrysalis/ EMI,
I released my first E.P. TRUST ©, produced by Rod Argent of Zombies fame - and
Pete van Hooke - Mike & the Mechanics / Van Morrison. Then, in 2008, I wrote and
produced my first acoustic album, TRAVELLER ©. Just me, my harmonies and my
wonderful Washburn semi - acoustic.
I write mainly ballads
and have over 100 songs in my catalogue. Now I am collaborating with my talented
novelist friend, Ginny Vere Nicoll, another romantic like myself. I wrote the
song, THE SMILE © for her first book, THE SMILE, published in 2008. The plan is
to release a CD of my songs to go alongside her next book, UNDER THE OLIVES,
with a percentage of sales going to the amazing charity, FACING THE WORLD which
restores the faces of disfigured children in Third World Countries. It was very
sad to hear last May of the tragic death of one of the key doctors in the
charity, Martin Kelly, who was only 43. I feel so much for his widow, Natascha
McElhone for I have shared her heartbreaking experience. I wrote TRAVELLER IN
TIME © as result and it is so good to know that it has helped others who have
experienced such profound loss. I've wanted for a while now to take some time to
tell you about my songs on this page and why I wrote them. NO CRY ©- this was
written for a very good friend of mine who just wouldn't believe that she could
sort out her problems and be happy. This song is for everyone.. we all have the
power to be happy if we are positive. TRAVELLER IN TIME© was written for my
first husband, Julian Thomas, an amazing guitarist who died so unexpectedly and
so young at the age of 28 before he'd had chance to prove himself. He and Derek
Wood took Plymouth by storm with their amazing virtuose rock duo, Don't Pick the
Daisies. From Hendrix to Beethoven's Pathetique, Julian's playing was
astonishing. This song is dedicated to all those we have loved and lost.
HEAVEN © was written
for my first producer Bob Carter. He wrote MAMA USED TO SAY with Junior. He was
such a talented and gifted musician whose vocation was writing film music. I'm
so glad he had found true love, Jo, and his path in life before he died so
cruely of pancreatic cancer. I SEE YOU NAKED © is about falling in love - a
feeling we should never forget. It is the song which has and continues to
provoke the most reaction. Even Will Smith phoned me and raved about it, putting
it on hold for an R&B group on his record label. I have a wonderful R&B version
of the song as result but sadly, they were dropped before it was released. I
think this is a big song.. we'll see. TRUST© - this speaks for itself. The
legendary Rod Argent and Pete van Hooke produced an amazing version of this. The
lush chords sound fabulous but somehow, I like this simple and poignant version
just as much. To lose trust is to lose everything. Now, at last I have my own
studio and I have started work on my second album. The first three tracks ,
SOS.GOD ©, MAKE ME STRONG © and THE SMILE © are posted for you to hear. It's so
fab to record and produce- to do just what I want with no time pressure. UNDER
the OLIVES © is one of my latest song. It celebrates the power of endurance,
the triumph of love, and, of that special place under the olive trees in Greece.
Step Up is a song about Love and how we must bend and rise to each other to
maintain it. Please visit my page to read the back story on this song.! Well,
that's it. Thanks for reading all this - you are a star! I hope you enjoy.
